Starting up the blog again - the story so far

Hello good people of the internet, I come in peace. Let me tell you all a bit about myself. I have now spent 28 years in the realm of the living. I have a strong passion for video games and most things electronic. I have played games since I was 4 years old and haven't really slowed down on them since. I like all variety of games (even some sports games). Music is another interest of mine with my favorite bands being Nine Inch Nails, Primus, and Daft Punk. I have dabbled with C++ and C# programming but I don't know enough to do much with it yet. I also do like reading as well, Philip K. Dick is one of my favorite authors.

I own a great little mini-Dachshund and her name is Sukoshi. She is one of the most friendly little dogs that I have ever encountered. She is quiet now after training her not to bark in the house. Most of the time she will just lay down in blankets and sleep the day away or cuddle next to you. Whenever guests come by the house she gets super excited and depending on who it is will just cling to them the whole time they are there. When a guest is there that she likes she seems to view them as the best person ever. If you want to read more about me click the read more link below this post!

Now to talk about my past some. I am originally from sunny Monterey, California. I spent my first four years there and then moved with my mother down to San Diego (my father still lives in Monterey). After I got through the third grade my mom moved from San Diego up to Bend, Oregon and I went back to Monterey for a few years to live with my dad. I spent fourth and fifth grade in Monterey. About half way though sixth grade I decided that I would rather live in Bend with my mom.

Bend was a pretty new experience for me since I had just lived in California before this it was crazy to have all the seasons (there was snow!). I spent the rest of my school years here in Bend. During my Junior year I got a job at a local game shop (which is now closed). Game Crazy was a great place for me to work. I love video games and I really like talking about them. That workplace provided me a place to be around games and other people that liked games; it was pretty great. When I was 19 the owner sold the business to a local guy who had a passion for games and comics. The name of the store was changed to Fun 'N' Games but my job (basically) remained the same.

About a year later he decided to open a shop in Redmond, Oregon and I was going to be the only worker there. The Redmond shop was really cool to work in since I was the only person that was ever working there. The place was basically just a little hole in the wall shop but I had a good customer base and a lot of regulars that came by often. After working there for a while I thought I might try a different business than games since I didn't want to get too burnt out on my hobby. I started working at the Best Western in Redmond and shortly after that I got a job offer to move to the coast with my girlfriend at the time. We would be assistant managers at a small motel in Reedsport, Oregon. We decided to take the job and moved to the coast in December of 2004.

After being there a few months we were given the opportunity to become Managers are the motel in Florence, Oregon that was owned by the same guy who owned the motel in Reedsport. We decided to take the job there and it was good for about a month. Then it started to go south in a big way. The job as a live on site managers was a soul crushing experience for both of us. We never got to leave the property which really sucked. About six months after we took that job we couldn't take it anymore and we became assistant managers at both properties. That job wasn't terrible and we liked it fairly well until they wanted us to be managers again at the Florence motel. So after a breakdown of sorts we talked to my mom and she was nice enough to help us get the heck out of that place and get back to Bend.

We moved back to Bend in April of 2006. Once back in Bend life was starting to look up again. We felt trapped in the coast and being away from there was a huge relief. She got a job at a the Sleep Inn (which is where she still works and I work there as well). I started work shortly after I moved here at G.I. Joe's doing merchandising. The work itself was good but having so many managers made things stupid. I worked part time at the hotel as well. Once we were back in Bend for a while my girlfriend and I got married. In September of 2006 I got a call from Sony Bend for a temporary job doing Quality Assurance (game testing). I took it and started work there at the beginning of October. I was working on Syphon Filter: Combat Ops and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. Working as QA is a great job for me since I have no problems playing the same game for long periods of time.

After the games shipped in September, 2007 the contract expired and I found myself out of work. Now this is where I start to get lazy with my life (which was really stupid of me looking back on it). I was out of work for a long period of time hoping that Sony would call me back which they eventually did once they needed me for Resistance: Retribution. I worked there from June 2008 to March 2009 doing Quality Assurance once again. Again I was really lazy after that job and didn't find work until I got a job at the hotel again in August 2009 (I am still working there). I was called back into work for Sony again for a very short contract from February 2010 to March 2010 working on Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow for the PS2. During this period I was also going through a bankruptcy due to my stupid credit card spending years earlier.

Now we get to where I am right now in my life...

After 4 years of being married I am now going through a divorce. The bankruptcy has cleared which is a good thing (my credit is destroyed but I don't have any debt now). I work at the hotel current doing night audit which is the shift in the middle of the night. I personally love the hours of this shift due to how much I enjoy being up during the middle of the night. So now my current struggle is trying to find a new place to live for the amount of money I make which has been no easy task. If you are still reading this by now I salute you! Thanks for spending the time to read this blog. The next ones aren't gonna be all about the past and probably more game related than this one. Thanks again for reading!
